At TMA, we continue to take firm steps to build a more just, equitable, and inclusive organization. On May 8, 2025, we officially signed the new 2025-2029 Equality Plan, a strategic tool to guarantee equal treatment and opportunities between women and men at all levels of the company. This new plan consolidates an organizational culture based on respect, equity, and co-responsibility, aligned with our values and our social commitment.

A CULTURE OF EQUALITY INTEGRATED THROUGHOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Equality Plan aims to consolidate an organizational culture based on equity, inclusion, and respect.

To this end, we work to guarantee real and effective equality between women and men in all areas of the company, ensuring that opportunities, treatment, and working conditions are not affected by gender issues.

This vision is integrated transversally into the corporate culture, with the aim of establishing common equality criteria in all areas and processes of the organization.

At TMA, we believe that equality is not just a goal, but a way of working and moving forward, day after day, as a team.

OBJECTIVES OF THE NEW EQUALITY PLAN

TMA’s Equality Plan establishes a clear and committed framework for action to promote gender equality in the workplace.

Its objectives respond to the goal of building a more just, inclusive, and equitable organization, where women and men have equal opportunities for professional and personal development.

These objectives, defined transversally and applicable to all areas of the company, range from equal pay and work-life balance to incorporating a gender perspective into corporate culture and communications.

The main objectives are:

    • To guarantee real equality of treatment and opportunities between women and men in all areas of the company.
    • Integrate a gender perspective across the organizational culture, fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.
    • Unify equality criteria and a gender perspective across all areas and levels of the company.
    • Ensure equal pay: equal pay for equal position value, without distinctions based on gender.
    • Promote measures that promote a work-life balance for the entire workforce.
    • Encourage the incorporation of women into the company, especially in underrepresented areas, and facilitate their access to positions of responsibility.
    • Reinforce the organization’s commitment to addressing any gender pay gap that may be detected.
    • Establish periodic evaluation mechanisms to verify compliance with the principle of equality and its actual application within the company.
    • Use gender-neutral internal and external communication that reflects the commitment to equality and respect for diversity.

A NOTABLE NEW DEVELOPMENT: ESPAIS VERDS JOINS THE EQUALITY COMMITTEE

One of the major improvements of this new phase is the incorporation of Espais Verds into the Equality Committee, which allows for stronger collaborative work, broader perspectives, and better coordination of actions within the business group.

This committee is key to promoting and supervising the measures included in the plan, as well as ensuring its proper implementation.

If you are part of the TMA team and would like to consult the full content of the Equality Plan, you can request it directly from our Equality Officer, Anna Lluch, who will also answer any related questions.

The role of the Equality Officer is fundamental, as she acts as a link between the Plan and operational reality, detecting inequalities, proposing improvements, and supporting the workforce in building a more equitable work environment.

CURRENT COMMITMENTS TO GUARANTEE EQUALITY AT TMA

Equality is not decreed: it is built. And it is measured.

At TMA, we work every day to guarantee equal treatment and opportunities at all levels of the organization.

These are some of the actions that are already part of our reality:

    • Monitoring of key indicators to assess the real impact of the measures implemented.
    • Continuous review of selection and promotion processes with a gender perspective.
    • Active visibility of women in operational and plant areas, breaking traditional stereotypes.
    • Reinforcement and effective implementation of the anti-harassment protocol.
    • Use of inclusive communication, with an internal guideline for gender-neutral language.
    • Promotion of the Equality Officer as an active point of reference on a daily basis.

CONSOLIDATED PROGRESS IN EQUALITY

In recent years, we have laid the foundations for building a more equitable, diverse, and respectful corporate culture:

    • Sustained increase in the presence of women in technical and operational positions.
    • Creation of an external communication channel to ensure confidentiality in the event of potential irregularities.
    • Updating the Code of Ethics with principles of equality and pay equity.
    • Implementation of a gender inclusive language guide in all departments.
    • Establishment of an Equality Committee with diverse representation and active participation.
    • Commitment to transparency: our policies are published and available on the corporate website.

The true story of how gender barriers can be overcome.

Laia is a pioneer in a historically male-dominated environment: she has joined TMA’s Waste Recovery and Transfer Center (CRT), becoming the first woman to hold this position in 60 years.

Experiences and reflections from women who have made waste management their careers and who, through their leadership, are opening new doors for other women.

From the challenges they faced to the lessons that have empowered them, their stories show us that inclusion and gender equality are fundamental principles and drivers of change that enrich the sector.

Companies committed to a sustainable future know that gender equality must be a priority.

The current challenge is not only to comply with regulations, but also to integrate equality as a cross-cutting value, permeating everything from strategy to daily work.

Equality is a matter of social justice, but also of efficiency, sustainability, and real commitment. At TMA, we understand this and want to share how we are making equality a tool for real transformation. TMA’s Equality Plan was born with the desire to reduce inequalities, prevent discrimination, and ensure that all people, regardless of gender, can develop professionally under equal conditions.

EQUALITY IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL SECTOR: REAL COMMITMENT, TANGIBLE IMPACT

In a historically masculinized sector like waste management, committing to equality is not only fair: it is transformative.

At TMA, we have spent years building an organizational culture where talent, equity, and respect are strategic pillars.

With the new 2025-2029 Equality Plan, we are consolidating a more inclusive, more humane, and more aligned business model with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

We understand equality as an essential value that must be integrated across the company’s culture.

This integration involves applying a gender perspective in all areas, processes, and decisions, ensuring that there are no gender-based differences in access to employment, promotion, training, or compensation.

EQUALITY AS A STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE FOR COMPANIES

Implementing an Equality Plan is not simply a legal obligation: it is a strategic decision.

Companies that integrate equality into their DNA:

    • Improve the work environment and talent retention.
    • Reduce absenteeism and pay and leadership gaps.
    • They foster innovation from a diversity of perspectives.
    • They strengthen their reputation and meet the demands of clients, institutions, and partners.

Equality is also a medium- and long-term investment that generates internal cohesion, improves competitiveness, and positions the company as an agent of social change.
