Fire protection in 2 Catalan municipalities

Fire protection is an essential priority for any municipality, especially those surrounded by natural environments susceptible to forest fires. To this end, Espais Verds del Vallès has carried out two important projects in collaboration with the town councils of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres and Vacarisses. These works have been designed to reduce the risk of fires in these areas, thus ensuring the safety of their inhabitants and the preservation of the natural environment.

PROJECT IN SANT ANDREU DE LLAVANERES, EFFECTIVE PROTECTION STRIPS

In the municipality of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, we have carried out a series of works focused on the creation and maintenance of fire protection strips in various areas. These strips are essential to prevent the spread of forest fires and ensure a rapid response in the event of an emergency..

Areas of intervention:

• El Mirador
• La Cornisa
• Onze Pins
• Roca de la Nao-Supermaresme
• Sant Andreu de Llavaneres urban centre

Work carried out:

• Strategically selected tree felling to reduce forest density and limit the spread of fire.
• Bush clearing to eliminate low vegetation and undergrowth that can act as fuel in the event of a fire.

These actions have been essential to create a safer environment that is less prone to fire, also facilitating access for emergency services if necessary.

PROJECT IN VACARISSES, DENSITY REDUCTION AND OPENING OF SERVICE ROADS

The municipality of Vacarisses has also been the subject of important interventions by Espais Verds del Vallès, with the aim of improving fire safety through various works in its low-combustibility perimeter strip.

Work carried out

• Reduction of tree density and clearing of undergrowth to reduce the amount of combustible material and create an effective barrier against the spread of fire.
• Opening of new service roads that facilitate access and mobility of emergency and maintenance teams.

These works not only increase the safety of residents, but also contribute to the conservation of the natural environment, allowing for more sustainable and controlled management of the landscape.
