Espais Verds and fire protection in El Ventaiol, Vacarisses

Espais Verds del Vallès will carry out the low-combustibility perimeter maintenance in the El Ventaiol development, in Vacarisses. With this contract we reinforce our commitment to fire prevention, environmental protection and the safety of local communities. Below, we will tell you all the details about the planned actions.

 

ESPAIS VERDS CONTRIBUTES TO REDUCING THE RISK OF FOREST FIRES

 

We have obtained a new tender from the Vacarisses City Council to carry out fire prevention tasks in the El Ventaiol development.

We are proud that the local administration continues to trust TMA and Espais Verds, and with this contract we continue to lead forest management and the protection of the natural environments in the area.

Espais Verds will open and maintain the low-combustibility perimeter strip to preserve the environment and protect the people who live in the area.

 The objectives of the contract are:

• Reduce the risk of the forest fire spreading inside the development
• Reduce the risk of a forest fire spreading to the outside of the development
• Facilitate the access of fire-fighting equipment to the entire perimeter of the development
• Facilitate the access of machinery for the execution of the vegetation treatment in the perimeter strip and its subsequent maintenance.

 

WHAT WILL THE WORK IN THE EL VENTAIOL URBANIZATION CONSIST OF?

 

The fire prevention tasks will consist of creating a 25-metre wide low-combustibility perimeter strip and the opening works will consist of:

• The reduction of trees
• The pruning of selected trees
• The clearing of undergrowth

 

As for the type of trees, holm oak and white oak will be encouraged rather than white pine because they are less pyrophytic species (they are species less capable of surviving fire) than pine.

The technical criteria for drawing up the low-combustibility strip are:

• Green areas located in contact with the boundary of the development

The final layout of the strip will pass through the green areas located on the boundary of the development and in such a way that the majority of these green areas are on the outer band of the low-combustibility perimeter strip

•  Perimeter urban roads

The final layout of the strip may take into account the width of the perimeter urban roads as part of the total width of the low-combustibility perimeter strip.

•  Built-up plots located within the perimeter strip area

The final layout of the strip will not affect homes located within rustic land. A distance of 25 m wide will be left, starting from the façade of the home.
