A few months ago, the town councils of Vilanova del Vallès and Fogars de la Selva awarded Espais Verds del Vallès the contract for forest treatment work, with the aim of improving safety in the municipalities throughout the year, protecting the natural environment in areas prone to forest fires.
In these towns, which have abundant wooded areas and highly flammable bushes, the need for preventive measures becomes even more urgent, especially for the summer season and in a drought year like the current one, marked by low rainfall in 2023.
OUR WORK AT ESPAIS VERDS
Our work for these two towns is based on reducing the risk of fires spreading, both inside and outside the developments, guaranteeing the safety of people, homes and infrastructure. The work we carry out includes:
- The layout of the work.
- Selective felling.
- Formative pruning.
- Clearing of undergrowth.
- Appropriate treatment of plant remains on the roads.
At Espais Verds del Vallès, we have extensive experience in treating vegetation in mountainous and wooded areas, and to do so we use specialised equipment such as:
- Brushcutters
- Rotary brushcutters
- Chainsaws
- Wheeled tractors
- Skiders…
In the case of Vilanova del Vallès, most of the land on which we apply vegetation treatments is privately owned, in mountainous urbanisations in neighbourhoods such as: Can Bosc, Bosc Ruscalleda, Ca l’Alegre, Les Roquetes and Can Jornet.
The wooded area occupies 50.36% of the municipal area, 2.28% of the area is covered by bushes and 1.29% by meadows. The vegetation in these areas is abundant in pine trees, a species 2 metres high and highly flammable.
For this reason, fire prevention is of great importance and at TMA we have a team of professionals who do their utmost to ensure that the work is effective.
