At Espais Verds, a company specialising in TMA gardening, we started pruning services for trees in Badia del Vallès on 14 March, to care for and enhance urban greenery.

With this work we seek to guarantee the safety and well-being of citizens, as well as maintaining the correct development of the trees for aesthetic, phytosanitary and pollution prevention reasons.

Thanks to our team of professionals and material equipment, we were able to provide a complete service for the requirements of the Town Council and the vegetation of the municipality, over a period of 40 calendar days.

 

OWN MATERIAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES

 

At TMA we have a wide variety of cutting-edge machinery, vehicles and equipment for Espais Verds. All of them are approved and in the best conditions to guarantee an optimal service and at the same time, take care of the environment.

Some of the tools required to carry out the services offered were the following:

    • 2 small chainsaws.
    • 1 large chainsaw.
    • 2 sets of compressors and pneumatic scissors.
    • 4 pruning saws.
    • Pruning shears.
    • 2 extendable poles with scissors and saws.
    • 3 stepladders with a minimum reach of 3 m.
    • 2 extendable ladders with a minimum reach of 5 m.

 

And, as for vehicles:

    • 1 closed box truck with a minimum payload of 10 ™.
    • 1 supply basket truck with a minimum of 12 m.
    • 2 self-propelled podator-type baskets.
    • 1 van for transporting materials.

OUR WORK AT ESPAIS VERDS

 

Our work at Espais Verds is key to maintaining the health and good appearance of each of the trees, located in streets, gardens, squares, patios… In Badia del Vallès, we attended to the following species:

    • Tala
    • Large and medium mulberry
    • Large Negundo
    • OM
    • Small plane tree
    • Large, medium and small Troana
    • Other species and neighbours’ requirements

 

We always carry out tree pruning respecting the natural form of each type, as well as its conditions. That is why there are different types of pruning, depending on the nature of each tree.

For pruning, factors such as:

    • The physiological state of the plant.
    • The type of pruning to be carried out.
    • Avoid extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions.
    • The possible production of fruit.

 

TYPES OF PRUNING WE CARRY OUT

 

    • Training: we carry out this on young trees during the first years of their establishment to give them the desired shape, following their natural structure. Broken, crossed and poorly oriented branches are also removed.
    • Reformation: we carry out this on adult trees that have suffered drastic pruning or a lack of formation during the first years. In this way, we recover their natural shape or give them the desired shape.
    • Long brocade: this is how we control the volume of the crown of certain trees that are pruned annually.
    • Crown reduction: we carry out this on adult and well-formed trees, with the aim of reducing or balancing the size of the crown of the tree, leaving it with its original shape.
    • Trimming: we carry out this on certain trees for aesthetic reasons, to control the size of the crown and to avoid the formation and fall of fruit to the ground.
    • Maintenance: we apply it to trees that have already achieved their balance. Therefore, we simply make the necessary cuts to remove dry, damaged, misaligned branches that may pose a danger… The result is a healthy, balanced crown with its original structure.
