Municipal trees pruning in Esparreguera: ensuring environmental sustainability and urban safety

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the contract for the pruning of municipal trees in Esparreguera, a project that has a positive impact on urban safety and also on the preservation of biodiversity and the improvement of the natural environment. Below, we explore the details of this new project and how it aligns with our Zero Waste philosophy and our commitment to ensuring sustainability and the efficient and sustainable management of natural resources, minimising environmental impact.

 

 

ESPAIS VERDS: SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF MUNICIPAL PRUNING FOR A SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE URBAN ENVIRONMENT

 

At Espais Verds, sustainability is the central axis of all our initiatives.

With this new tender, we will carry out pruning work on the municipal trees in Esparreguera, a project that reinforces our commitment to the environment and the safety of citizens.

This initiative aims to carry out pruning work on the trees in Esparreguera and guarantee their maintenance and safety. In addition to improving urban safety, this project actively contributes to the preservation of local biodiversity, creating a healthier and more balanced environment.

The contract covers a series of essential interventions to maintain the balance between trees and urban infrastructure.

• • Pruning:
    • Appropriate cutting above buds to encourage healthy growth.
    • Reduction of the volume of the crowns when they interfere with the passage of vehicles, pedestrians or neighbouring properties.

• • Management of plant remains:
    • On-site shredding of waste.
    • Transport of the remains to our treatment plants, located within a maximum radius of 40 km.

• • Signage and security:
    • Previous notices to the neighbours with 72 hours’ notice.
    • Placement of fences, cones and visible signage to avoid accidents.

 

With this new tender, Espais Verds contributes to preserving the health of the trees and reducing risks for citizens, especially in areas close to power lines and busy urban spaces.

In this way, we manage to improve the quality of life of residents, guaranteeing a safe and healthy environment.

 

HOW TREE PRUNING IN ESPARREGUERA CONTRIBUTES TO URBAN SAFETY AND PROMOTES LOCAL BIODIVERSITY

 

One of the key aspects of the contract is pruning, which guarantees balanced and healthy growth of the trees and favours the development of new shoots and the growth of young branches.

It also contributes to reducing the volume of the crowns, ensuring that they have an appropriate size and height to avoid interference with vehicles, pedestrians or nearby properties.

These actions contribute directly to the safety and well-being of the urban environment, an essential point to guarantee a harmonious coexistence between trees and infrastructure.

 

In addition, the contract includes the comprehensive management of plant remains resulting from pruning:

• • On-site shredding: The waste is processed at the same work site to reduce the environmental impact.
  • Circular Economy: This process allows branches and leaves to be transformed into useful materials, such as compost or plant covers, which can be used in future environmental applications: they are materials that are reused to improve soil quality and encourage the growth of local flora.
  • Sustainable transport: The waste is transported to our treatment plants located a maximum of 40 km away, which ensures the reduction of the environmental impact derived from transport emissions.

 

SAFETY MEASURES AND SIGNAGE IN MUNICIPAL TREE PRUNING WORK

 

A fundamental pillar is the signage and safety during the work.

Before starting the work, prior notice is given to the neighbours, at least 72 hours in advance, so that they have enough time to take the necessary precautions.

During the operations, strict safety measures will be taken. Fences, cones and visible signage are placed to prevent accidents and guarantee the safety of both workers and passers-by.

Likewise, the implementation of all occupational risk prevention measures for workers is guaranteed, including the use of the corresponding personal protective equipment.

This proactive approach reinforces our commitment to safety and transparency in all our activities.

• • Coordination with the electric companies: We do not carry out work near power lines without proper coordination.
  • Protection of work areas: We place tape, fences and signage to protect workers and pedestrians.
