ESPAIS VERDS AND THE MAINTENANCE OF THE GREEN AREAS OF THE EMD

 

TMA and Espais Verds reinforce their commitment to natural environments by being awarded the service for the maintenance, conservation, and cleaning of the green areas of Bellaterra.

This contract includes the care of parks, gardens, and other public lands managed by the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD), with the goal of ensuring the preservation of the natural landscape and contributing to the well-being of the local community.

The awarding of this project reinforces our commitment to environmental care and demonstrates our technical capacity to carry out all kinds of sustainable actions in natural environments.

At Espais Verds, we combine sustainable practices with advanced technology to ensure that the green spaces of Bellaterra are maintained in optimal condition, and are safe and accessible for everyone.

PRESERVATION OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS OF THE EMD

 

Maintaining natural spaces is essential for guaranteeing quality of life in urban areas, and Espais Verds has been awarded this key contract to preserve the green areas of Bellaterra.

This bidding involves the conservation of the landscape and the continuous improvement of public spaces, combining innovation, sustainability, and efficient resource management.

This project includes the maintenance, conservation, and cleaning of the following spaces belonging to the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD) of Bellaterra:

• • Publicly owned lands
  • Parks and gardens
  • Public green areas

 

Espais Verds will also be responsible for transporting generated waste and providing the necessary labor, machinery, and all elements required for service provision.

Support services will also be provided for the organization of events and activities organized by the EMD in public spaces within its municipal area.

INTEGRATED CARE OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN BELLATERRA

 

Comprehensive care of natural spaces is a priority for Espais Verds, and with the awarding of this new contract in the municipality of Bellaterra, we are committed to ensuring the conservation of its 171,982 m² of green areas.

From parks and gardens to forest strips, our team will implement specific solutions for each type of space, ensuring their preservation and accessibility.

The gardening tasks in this contract vary according to the nature of each area:

• Green areas: comprehensive maintenance, ensuring the health of plants, trees, and grass.
• Meadows: regular mowing and care of vegetation to preserve its beauty and biodiversity.
• Forests: We differentiate two types:
  • Forest strips: correspond to 10-15% of the total forest area, and intervention is required in approximately 10% each year.
  • Understory maintenance and cleaning: clearing and conditioning of paths to keep them safe and passable.

 

Each of our interventions is designed to maintain the natural beauty of Bellaterra while applying sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact.

Thanks to our specialized approach, these areas will continue to serve as a green lung that contributes to the well-being of the community and the ecological balance of the region.

 

ACTIONS TO PRESERVE THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS OF THE EMD

 

Espais Verds is at the forefront of sustainable management of natural environments and will carry out a series of key actions in Bellaterra to preserve its green spaces.

In all these actions, our approach is based on sustainability and efficiency, ensuring that each action has the least environmental impact possible.

These are the tasks we will perform in the EMD of Bellaterra:

Fertilizing: appropriate fertilization for each type of plant will be performed. The fertilizers will be chlorine-free and slow-release. Whenever feasible, alternatives using organic fertilizers will be sought.

 

Aeration: will be done at least once a year, preferably in the fall.

Selective weeding: to keep edges and paths free of invasive herbaceous and shrubby formations.

Phytosanitary control: monitoring and follow-up of trees and shrub formations to prevent possible diseases or pest infestations. Preventive treatments will be carried out as needed, especially from April to September. The most suitable products for each species will be used, always opting for the least toxic and contaminating.

Mulching (pine bark, pruning waste, volcanic soil, gravel, etc.): mulching will be applied whenever necessary.

Maintenance of irrigation facilities, to prevent water loss.

Cleaning and weeding (manual or chemical): all shrub beds, grass areas, etc., will be cleaned to prevent dirt accumulation.

Planting and replacement: the choice of species to be incorporated will take into account environmental sustainability criteria. Native species that are resistant to extreme conditions and have low water requirements will be preferred.

Pruning and trimming of shrubs: will be done as naturally and respectfully as possible, seeking uniformity and aesthetics. All the resulting branches from these operations will be removed immediately to be reused as organic compost.

Irrigation: will be restricted to young or recently planted plants and will be subject to weather conditions. The frequency will depend on the water requirements of different species. Irrigation will preferably take place at dusk and dawn and will not occur during a rainfall period with precipitation equal to or greater than the irrigation dose.

Edge trimming and shaping: excess grass on the edges will be cut and removed to maintain the grass within the agreed boundaries and respect the original layout.

Mowing and scarifying the grass: to keep the grass in optimal conditions, both aesthetically and physiologically.

Felling and removal of dead and dangerous elements: municipal authorities will be informed, and immediate action will be taken.

Special and emergency work: to maintain or restore urban safety affected by public trees and extraordinary and unforeseen work. The removal of dead and/or dangerous trees and branches must always be carried out urgently.

With each of these interventions, Espais Verds commits to maintaining the beauty and functionality of green spaces and promoting environmentally respectful practices.

 

EFFICIENT AND SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT

 

Efficient and sustainable waste management is one of the fundamental pillars of Espais Verds’ operations.

During the execution of this contract in Bellaterra, we will ensure that all generated waste, whether from planting, pruning, or other activities, is managed responsibly by transporting it to our specialized treatment plants.

Our mission is to ensure that every action we undertake in Bellaterra maintains its green spaces in optimal condition, while also contributing to efficient waste management and minimizing environmental impact.
