This is how the Sant Cugat team experienced the Panda Raid 2025: adventure, resilience, and sustainability in the desert

The Panda Raid 2025 will go down in history as one of the most demanding, unexpected, and memorable of the 17 editions held to date. What promised to be another odyssey on sand and sun turned into a true meteorological challenge for the more than 300 participating teams. At TMA Tecnología Medio Ambiente, as sponsors of the Sant Cugat team, we experienced this experience with a mixture of excitement, respect, and pride. This year’s journey was a test of endurance, not only for the vehicles, but also for the will of all the participants. Read on to discover what this desert adventure was like.
A DIFFERENT DESERT RALLY
After months of preparation, excitement, and fine-tuned mechanics, the Sant Cugat team has returned from the Panda Raid 2025 with their hearts full and their tires covered in mud.
At TMA Tecnología Medio Ambiente, we share the excitement, the effort, and also the surprise that this 17th edition of the rally brought.
Far from the usual arid and sunny landscape of the Moroccan desert, the participants encountered completely unusual weather: heavy rain, hail, and tracks that turned into veritable mud pits. This unprecedented scenario led the organizers to cancel the first two special stages, thus reducing the race to just four competitive days.
EXTREME WEATHER, RENEWED STRATEGY
From day one, the weather made it clear that things weren’t going to be easy.
Constant rain, hail, and flooded tracks forced the organizers to cancel the first two special stages, thus reducing the actual competition time to just four days of real on-track action.
In this adverse context, the Sant Qgat team, made up of Joan Molinera, Ubaldo de Azpiazu, Jonathan Guerra, and Josep Maria Gutiérrez, had to adapt their strategy on the fly and refused to let the circumstances get the better of them.
Usually more comfortable on sandy terrain, the mud and impassable tracks posed an unprecedented technical and physical challenge.
Faced with the mud and uncertainty, they responded with strategy, teamwork, and an exemplary attitude.
“We’re more accustomed to sand than mud. With only four stages, we had no room for improvement, but we took away the experience and the desire to try again,” the team shares.
Despite these difficulties, they managed to complete the race, finishing 33rd (Joan and Josep Maria) and 40th (Ubaldo and Jonathan) out of 128 teams in the 4×2 category.
Although far from the podium, this ranking reflects an extremely high level of commitment and resilience.
Beyond the result, their experience is a testament to how challenges are overcome with vision and commitment. Because when the road gets complicated, it’s when you see the purpose behind the wheel that shines brightest.
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT AND SOLIDARITY ON WHEELS
One of the fundamental pillars of the Panda Raid is its solidarity and ecological component. It’s not just an endurance competition, but a rally with a conscience, promoting social and environmental actions throughout Morocco.
At TMA, as a company specialized in waste management and a leader in the Circular Economy, we strongly support these types of initiatives.
Supporting the Sant Qgat team is not just a sports sponsorship; it’s a declaration of principles: we support projects that combine sustainability, effort, and human values.
It is a consistent demonstration of our active commitment to a more sustainable future.
The Panda Raid, which is part of our commitment to sports, sustainability, and personal growth, reminds us that great achievements are not always measured in positions, but in stories that leave a mark.
RESILIENCE IN EVERY KILOMETER
The Panda Raid 2025 has undoubtedly been an edition that will remain in everyone’s memory due to its unexpected conditions.
This edition leaves us with distinct images: cars covered in mud instead of desert dust and stuck tires where dunes once stood.
Rain, hail, and mud replaced the sand, transforming the tracks into even more extreme challenges.
But this Panda Raid also leaves intact the motivation, the desire to improve, and the desire to come back stronger.
We will remember it as a symbol of fighting spirit, adaptation to change, and loyalty to principles.
With a sporting spirit and a resilient attitude, Joan, Ubaldo, Jonathan, and Josep Maria knew how to adapt to the situation, finishing in very commendable positions within their category.
Through the efforts of the Sant Qgat team, we once again confirm that no adversity can stop a mission born of commitment, experience, and passion.
This edition has been a symbol of adaptation to change, a value we understand well at TMA.
Because transforming the present to build a cleaner future requires that same responsiveness, perseverance, and collective vision.
BEYOND THE DESERT: SUSTAINABILITY AS A DRIVER OF CHANGE
At TMA, we understand that sustainability is not a goal, but a way of acting and thinking.
Thanks to our infrastructure—with waste recovery, recycling, and treatment plants—and a team committed to the environment, every day we take steps toward a more circular, efficient, and fair production model.
We work every day to ensure that today’s waste becomes tomorrow’s resources, transforming environmental challenges into sustainable solutions through innovation, commitment, and environmental education.
And just like in the rally, we do so with strategy, commitment, and teamwork.
Participating in events like this also allows us to take this message further, connecting with new generations and reminding us that every action counts, both in the desert and in our daily lives.
