Low-emission vehicles, the driving force of sustainable mobility
Can you imagine being able to breathe cleaner air in your city? Do you think that since more hybrid and electric vehicles are circulating there is less noise and noise pollution? Efficient and ecological vehicles, such as electric, hybrid and LPG vehicles, are transforming urban spaces into healthier and more habitable environments because sustainable mobility is the driving force for living in cleaner cities with a better quality of life. In this article we tell you how low-emission vehicles are the present and the future of mobility and sustainable urban mobility.
MOBILITY MUST BE SUSTAINABLE OR IT WILL NOT BE
Low-emission mobility has become an essential priority for cities around the world.
On World Electric Vehicle Day we want to highlight the importance of sustainable mobility. The present and the future of efficient mobility aims to reduce emissions of polluting gases and promote a better quality of life for citizens. By adopting sustainable transport practices, we contribute to the creation of healthier and more habitable urban spaces, where efficient and ecological mobility plays a fundamental role in the configuration of cities and urban centres.
The use of sustainable vehicles is a key pillar in sustainable mobility. These vehicles, such as electric bicycles, hybrid buses, electric cars… help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and reduce air pollution.
By opting for these means of transport, we promote a cleaner and less vehicle-saturated environment, improving air quality and reducing noise levels in cities.
At a more local level, this more efficient mobility facilitates the development of green infrastructures and the creation of more accessible and safer public spaces. Globally, it contributes significantly to the fight against climate change, reducing carbon emissions and promoting more efficient use of resources.
If we move, it must be towards sustainable mobility. In cities, we must always circulate with sustainable urban mobility in mind.
LOW EMISSION VEHICLES AND THE POSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ON MOBILITY
Fortunately, there are vehicle alternatives to make sustainable mobility a reality.
The environmental impact of hybrid vehicles is more positive than that of internal combustion vehicles:
- Electric motors produce significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions. This reduction in emissions makes the urban environment healthier. However, as they partially depend on an internal combustion engine, they emit greenhouse gases and other pollutants, although in smaller quantities than pure internal combustion vehicles.
- By using both electricity and gasoline, the dependence on fossil fuels is reduced and greater energy sustainability is achieved.
- They contain components that can be recycled and reused and the recovery and management of this waste contributes to the Circular Economy.
- It contributes to significantly reducing noise pollution and helps to significantly reduce noise levels, creating a quieter environment in urban areas.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are still significantly better for the environment:
- EVs produce zero direct greenhouse gas emissions and this has a direct and very positive impact on improving the air quality of cities.
- In addition, the production and the entire life cycle of EVs has a lower environmental impact. Although the manufacturing of batteries can be resource and energy intensive, the long-term benefits in terms of reduced emissions outweigh these initial costs.
- Continuous improvements in battery technology and the increased use of renewable energy make EVs very suitable sustainable alternatives in urban and interurban mobility, both for private use and in public transport.
- Recycling and life cycle management of EVs are key. Many of their components can be recycled and reused, which contributes to the Circular Economy, minimises waste, contributes to the Zero Waste philosophy and reduces the need to extract new materials.
- They significantly reduce noise levels and noise pollution.
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) vehicles also offer significant environmental benefits.
They are a cleaner and more economical alternative to traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel. The positive impact of LPG vehicles in terms of sustainability and the environment is remarkable.
- The vehicles can run on both LPG and petrol and therefore offer flexibility and accessibility.
- They emit significantly less carbon dioxide (CO2) and other pollutants compared to internal combustion vehicles.
- They are low-emission vehicles because they contribute to improving air quality in cities and reducing the carbon footprint.
- Many of the components of LPG vehicles are highly recyclable (fuel systems, metal components, engines, etc.). These materials can be recycled and recovered to be reused in the production of new products, thus extending the life cycle of these materials and contributing to the Circular Economy.
In short, all these vehicles provide environmental and economic benefits, promoting a cleaner future and caring for the environment.
SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY AT TMA
At TMA we carry out comprehensive waste management, promoting low-emission mobility with a large, technologically advanced fleet.
We have more than 250 vehicles of 11 different types, with electric and LPG hybrid models, which allows us to serve all types of companies and sectors, adapting to their specific waste treatment needs.
TMA’s fleet is equipped with a geolocation system, which allows us to monitor the status of all operational services in real time and thanks to this we can optimize routes and reduce the environmental impact.
Our land fleet has the following vehicles:
-
- Container trucks with chains
- Hook lifts
- Octopus trucks
- Crane trucks
- Tank trucks
- Box trucks (8-12 m3)
- Platform trailer trucks (32 m3)
- Walking floor trucks (70 m3)
- Rear-loading compactor trucks
- Front-loading compactor trucks:
- Rear-loading compactor trucks – Jumbo
We also have this series of vehicles:
-
- Specific vehicles for collecting waste in places with difficult access.
- Vehicles for auxiliary gardening services.
- Vehicles for inspection work on pipelines.
- Vehicles for transporting waste in small quantities.
- Waste compacting road rollers.
For the collection of MARPOL (Marine Pollution) waste, we have a maritime fleet made up of two vessels equipped with the latest technology:
- Barge JAK UNO, intended for the collection of hydrocarbon waste, bilge water and similar MARPOL I waste. It has a storage capacity of 230 m3 of oily liquids and is 27 metres long, where it can carry up to 7 containers for the reception of solid waste.
- Barge JAK DOS, intended for the collection of general waste and recoverable materials (MARPOL V), as its main activity, with versatility for MARPOL waste management. It is responsible for collecting solid waste on ships (MARPOL V) and collecting oily liquid waste and storing it in tanks below deck. It has a storage capacity of 32.5 m3 of oily liquids and is 18 metres long.
Our fleet of vehicles reflects our commitment to sustainability and efficiency in the comprehensive management of waste and in all aspects related to transport and logistics.
In addition, we continue to innovate every day, always looking for new ways to optimize the services we provide to our clients to be efficient and reduce our carbon footprint.
With our comprehensive and sustainable approach we demonstrate that it is possible to offer an agile, personalized service that is committed to caring for the environment.
THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY IS THE MOST EFFICIENT ALTERNATIVE IN WASTE MANAGEMENT
With our work we contribute positively to the Circular Economy, by maximizing waste recycling, constantly innovating to extend the life cycle of waste. We focus on recovering and valorizing recyclable materials, giving them a new life and transforming waste into new resources.
With comprehensive waste management we minimize the environmental impact.
At TMA we are Zero Waste. This is our way of understanding, managing and treating waste: providing efficient treatment and recycling solutions for all types of waste generated, reducing the negative environmental impact of not recycling, developing and applying innovative solutions for the comprehensive and efficient management of waste.
The Zero Waste philosophy reaffirms our commitment to the environment and to innovation in the services we offer.
